    Abstract:

Lactose was used to induce cholesterol oxidase(COD) expression in Escherichia coli BL21(DE3) in this manuscript.Effect of different nutrient and environmental conditions, including media ingredients, lactose concentration, lactose addition time, and the culture temperature on COD expression were carefully investigated.Under the optimum induced conditions, the maximal activity of COD reached at 15.2 U/mL.The results confirmed that lactose could be used as an inducer in the fermentation process.
